The Grant / Lee Medium Tank

 Grant/Lee Tank  Grant/Lee Tank

The Grant was first received by the British in 1941 and the Lee in 1942. The Grant was built to British specifications and the Lee was the standard version of the Tank. At the time it gave the British an advantage against the German tanks as it's armour was superior and the hull 75mm gun could deal with German tanks at range but unfortunately this advantage was not put to the most effective use. The Grant was not an idea tank, the hull armour was riveted and the tank had an very high profile which made the tank a much larger target and the main armament being in the hull also posed problems but the tanks were reliable and served well.

Around 2900 Grant and Lee tanks were received by the British in the Second World War until it was replaced with the Sherman at the end of 1942.
